Ecosystem: All of the biotic and abiotic parts in an area that work together to sustain life. Biotic: All things that are LIVING organisms in an ecosystem, and resulting from living organisms. Examples: animals, plants, bacteria, fungi, hair, eggs. Abiotic: All Non Living components of an ecosystem. If it has never lived, it is abiotic. Examples: water, rocks, minerals, temperature, air. An ecosystem depends on the interactions of its biotic (living) and abiotic (nonliving) parts to keep the system and going. Ex: Plants require water to stay alive. |
Biomes of the worldBiomes are the different ecosystems of the world and are determined by the amounts of annual rainfall, temperature and the variety of organisms they support.
